Much-loved but unrenovated for an extended period, the Queanbeyan Bowling Club saw an opportunity to cater to a broader market by renovating the club and revitalising their branding.

The original bowling club was rebranded to Campbell & George with a greater focus on food, beverage and entertainment, while two lawns were retained for bowling.

The club was particularly keen to give members and families a vibrant space to watch sports and celebrate occasions while enjoying the club’s enhanced dining offer.

Concept & Design

The existing club structure had many elements we were able to retain and celebrate, providing an exciting opportunity to infuse character by thoughtfully combining old with new.

Bowls lockers were adapted into a feature storage piece which doubles as a partition in dividing seating areas. The existing parquetry flooring, concrete flooring, structure, glazing and wall cladding were all revitalised and retained. Designing the project through this environmentally-conscious lens also allowed us to manage the client’s budget effectively.

Campbell & George is a modern interpretation of a bowling club that pays homage to its past while providing a relaxed, family-friendly environment – with new layers for outdoor entertaining, sports viewing and alfresco dining.
