Creating a sophisticated, light-filled family dream home with room to grow.
Our client contacted DACCA with a desire to transform their 1970s Five Dock cottage/bungalow into a stylish,m sophisticated home that would grow with them and their three boys.
With DACCA taking over from a previous architect, our key challenge was achieving the scale and modern design the client wanted in a street of predominantly Federation-style houses.
Concept & Design
We worked closely with the client to understand their style and ensure our design delivered the precise look and feel they wanted. Lighting and angles were particularly important, given the client's background in lighting design.
The new 4-bedroom home features a large en-suite study on the ground level, two family rooms, an open living, dining, and kitchen area and a pool to the rear.
The stunning angular forms come from the connection of light and shadows throughout, with prominent skylights and artificial lighting delivering a strong natural mood for the space.
The form and design of our work was key to getting the 265m2 house approved. We submitted a section 4.5 modification then completed full construction documentation, working successfully with council on colour tone, form and portions to achieve a striking and contemporary facade design.
